Why Am I Proud to be a Rotarian?

Home

On Jan. 30, we held our annual Rotary Kid's Ice Fishing Contest at Pottery Pond. More than 40 kids entered the contest in which five large trout and numerous sunfish were caught. Great prizes, hot chocolate, fish-shaped cookies, and lots of smiling faces made it a very successful event. Thanks to all who helped.

On Jan. 26 Bruce Carlstrom of Lake City told us about Freedom Honor Flights, a program that flies WW II veterans to Washington DC for a one-day visit to the WW II memorial - all for free.

Learn About Our Strive Program

Established in 1986, the Red Wing Rotary Club gathers each Tuesday at Noon for lunch, fellowship, and service.

We hold energetic one-hour meetings in the historic St. James Hotel in downtown Red Wing, Minnesota. Rotarian visitors are welcome!

Located less than an hour from both the Twin Cities and Rochester, on the Wisconsin border, Red Wing's 16,000 residents enjoy a high quality of life and generations of community pride.

Defined by the upper Mississippi River valley and surrounded by limestone bluffs and hardwood forests, Red Wing is a popular tourist destination.

Red Wing's natural beauty is complemented by its native American legacy, historic buildings, gracious parks, and generous business community.

Meg Walch
Red Wing Rotary Club President
2009-2010

Welcome and thank you for visiting the Red Wing Rotary website!

Whether you are a member who frequents this site for the latest Rotary news or a first time visitor curious about what Rotary is, you will find all things Rotary here.

I am excited to be appointed to preside over the Rotary Club of Red Wing for the 2009-2010 year. I am humbled by the confidence the Red Wing Club has placed in me. The Rotary Four Way Test is more than a credo…it is the measure by which we can make ANY decision. Using it along with the Rotary's motto, Service Above Self, we can achieve amazing things.

I have been a Rotarian for five years. I was Secretary, Vice President and Program Chairperson. I attended my first Rotary International Convention in 2005, our Centennial year. The concept of World Peace becomes possible when you have the opportunity to see Rotarians gathered from around the world!!

Rotary has given me and my family opportunities we never dreamed possible. My husband Chris and I have three children, 19 year old Joe, 17 year old Sarah and 13 year old Hannah. Our son Joe spent 2008-2009 in Japan through the Rotary Youth Exchange Program. He is set to begin college in the fall and based on his experience abroad plans to study International Relations. Our family also includes the youth we have hosted through the Rotary Youth Exchange program: Mariko from Hiroshima, Japan, Gabi from Brazil and Sebastian from Ecuador. Our family is truly worldwide.

Again, thank you for visiting our web site. I invite you to learn more about Rotary and consider supporting Rotary in your area and becoming a member!
